The walk gives an introduction of the interaction of geology or respectively underground and the development of the townscape (incl. the building materials) since the ancient world. The inner hills of the city (Festungsberg-Mönchsberg-Kapuzinerberg) caused a highly heterogenic underground because of the glacier deviation during the ice age (diluvium?), which had a negative effect on construction activities. The hills have been an obstruction as well as strategic protection since the antiquity.
